I got mine filled too, about 12:45, I did not look at the exact time. The order process was excruciatingly slow. It took about 35 minutes. My order number is 308297xx. The order screen said they expect to ship 1-30, but my order receipt says 2-06.

I was not going to order until I saw this

The box is finished with a high-gloss lacquer and the inscriptions used are in a font similar to those used in the early 1900s when the original coin was produced.
When I saw that I just had to have one. Wow, fonts similar to the early 1900's! How could I resist. :yippee:

"There is a tide in the affairs of men,

Which, taken at the flood, leads on to fortune;

Omitted, all the voyage of their life

Is bound in shallows and in miseries.

On such a full sea are we now afloat;

And we must take the current when it serves,

Or lose forever our ventures."

I ordered mine at about 4pm. Order # 30853xxx.... I tried calling them right at noon and going to there web site both were down for over 45min.

This is my first gold coin. I cant wait to get it. I spoke with the lady at the mint and asked her if the price of gold drops and I cancell my order then reorder at a lower cost what would happen. She said "you will be put at the end of the line in the order process".

Lets see how long this thing takes to come...

My father and I were both trying to get orders in. My father used his business address and I had the home address! We both eventually checked out about 30 minutes after the initial release, albeit an EDGE connection on my part. The links on this page really helped me out to expedite the process. I had it in my Mozilla bookmarks bar for the past week! Woohoo!

YES, we GOT TWO!

Furthermore, I have the updated "In stock and reserved" status from Backordered. However, I have the same status for three 1/10th oz GAE Proofs! Not to mention my Prosperity Set on backorder since beginning of January. My dad had the Platinum 10th Anniv Set since middle of Dec! Hope is the KEY word for the US Mint.

Orders 3076xxxx, 3080xxxx, 3083xxxx

EDIT: Apparently, they changed my status BACK to "backordered". DOH!

Anyone else think numismatic coins are a way to sneakily hide rising cost? "Oh snap, we've got limited supply of gold. Let's only pump out a few coins here and there, raise the price 40%, and say they're numismatic."

I suppose the only thing would be how much does it cost to make the dyes for a new coin.

I love this coin, but as a student I can't get myself to buy one with that kind of a premium. I don't have the money to start getting into numismatics so hopefully down the line ill find some crack head to come up to me and sell it to me for $100 because he doesn't know what it is.

Wishful thinking I guess...

I got mine on order...too hard to resist.

Numismatics can be fun and very profitable.

I bought some 2006 1/10th oz Rolf Harris gold coins 2 years ago from the Perth Mint for $175 each and sold 1 recently for $2800 and others for more than $2000.

It wont be long before $1200 is cheap for an oz of gold.
